3 Reasons Why Diarrhea Can Cause Hemorrhoids

Diarrhea is defined as the watery stool passed many times in a day. The numbers of times you visit the toilet significantly increase. Most people think that diarrhea is an illness and they will just have frequent and liquid stools. Almost everyone will have diarrhea at some point in life.

It can be caused by several things such as eating spicy food, eating unhygienic food, not eating at the normal place you eat. The frequent bowel movement causes strain on the anal canal. This causes the bulging or swelling of the veins in the anal canal and that is what causes hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids and diarrhea are similar in many ways. People don’t take them seriously and delay visiting the doctor. Without medications the diarrhea comes to a chronic stage and hence the person causes hemorrhoids. The blood also passes from the watery stools. There is pain in the abdomen, rectum or at the time of bowel movement.

There are many reasons why diarrhea can cause hemorrhoids.

Not getting medical help or to avoid visiting the doctor when a person is suffering from diarrhea. Diarrhea comes and disappears suddenly in a number of days. If it stays more than that, then it is called as acute diarrhea.

Even acute diarrhea will disappear after a couple of weeks. A couple of people suffer from a long term diarrhea. This diarrhea remains for more than three to four weeks. It is the long term diarrhea that causes the hemorrhoids.

Frequently visiting the toilet may increase the burning and irritation of the anal canal. These visits to the toilet increase the pressure on the veins of the anal canal. Resulting in the bulging out or swelling of the veins. This swelling causes hemorrhoids.

Diarrhea causes loose bowel movement. This will strain the hermorrhoidal tissue resulting in the swelling and the irritation. This will cause hemorrhoid.

A few things can be followed to avoid diarrhea. Always wash your hands before eating, eat in a clean or hygienic place, and do not eat open food. A number of other conditions may also cause diarrhea such as :

  • Unable to digest some foods may lead to diarrhea
  • Problems in the pancreas
  • Surgeries like removal of small intestine or its part which may result in unable to absorb food
  • Certain rare diseases related to the stomach
  • Swelling in the intestines which may result in diarrhea

A person may pick up infections from any other person who has it. Do not drink contaminated food or water. Also do not eat half or improperly cooked food. You may get food poisoning which may lead to diarrhea. Diarrhea is very dangerous for children and adults if not treated properly and in time.

It may cause the loss of fluids and minerals from the body leading to dehydration. If you are planning a foreign trip, contact your doctor and ask for his advice. There may be a few precautions you need to take as there may be a change in the type of food or water. It will cause a lot of damage and will take time to recover if there is a diarrhea.

Diarrhea is the rare reason for hemorrhoids, but it cannot be ignored. It can definitely contribute to one of the most important reasons causing diarrhea. Treat it seriously; approach a doctor immediately as soon as the symptoms show. Also, keep a check if your body is allergic to any food types and if it is not able to absorb any food types, and then avoid eating them.
